Women's competition
The 2021 Crossfit Games women's competition opened this morning with a swim event. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Jonne Koski won in the first event. Koski was the overall champion after she maintained her lead throughout. Tall and Eramoo O'Connell came in second and third, respectively. This was the first Games event for women and the women's team hoped to finish the podium.
The women's competition features top-level female athletes. The field features nine athletes, including a 19 year-old Australian powerhouse who won this competition last year. Kara Saunders of Australia, who was second in Australia and eleventh in the world in 2020, are also contenders. Andrea Nisler is another rising star. She competed in the team category in 2018 and placed third in the United States, and 15th overall in 2020. This competition will include these athletes and Sara Sigmundsdottir of Iceland, a newcomer to Crossfit. She won the first place Medal at the World Crossfit Games earlier.
Pegboard contest
The Pegboard contest at the Crossfit Games 2021 was a first. The Games added it to their summer Olympic program, along with double-unders (dumbbell overhead squats) and pegboard. Toomey-Orr held the record for most Games wins with 30. Sager won Event 11 for men and earned his third win of the Games. There were several ties in the contest, but Toomey-Orr's dominance was not enough to keep him out of the win.

CrossFit Games is a training program that focuses on 10 general fitness skills. These include strength, flexibility, power and speed as well as cardiovascular endurance. Pegboard competition tests competitors' grip strength, coordination, and speed. Competitors hold two wooden pegs between each hand and compete to win. The competition was intense, and the athletes left feeling satisfied after completing their Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games will again use a cutting method for individual competition. Although it's not as drastic as previous Games, it is still quite different from this year. Because the competition is made up of 15 events, a cut to 30 athletes after the seventh or eighth event is very likely. CrossFit must also answer the question of how it will adjust the points following cuts. The scoring table used during the 2019 games was almost identical to that used in 2021. It is likely that this will continue.
This year's CrossFit Games team includes 236 competitors, making it the largest ever. Major cuts are made in the first six events. The field is then reduced to 75 athletes. The top 30 finishers compete in a sprint pairt to determine who is the top ten. The top 20 competitors then compete for the remaining six events. Castro's system was strongly criticised by former Games participants, who felt that cuts were too substantial.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok announces new CrossFit Games clothing, shoes and other equipment. The Nano X1 is the new shoe. They're made to fit multiple fitness needs. Reebok calls the shoe "the shoe of health," but it is more like a traditional trainer shoe. DuPont's Kevlar, which promotes durability, breathability, and strength, is the shoe's upper. The shoes' responsiveness is enhanced thanks to the RopePro tech and the firm midsole.

CrossFit and Reebok's partnership will end in 2020. The Games have been sponsored by Reebok for over a decade, and it's now clear that the company's involvement will be decreasing. Reebok will not fund the Games' prize pool, but it will still make all the equipment and apparel worn by athletes, even the Reebok gear. The company will no more refer to itself by the name "Reebok Fitness Games", as it does right now.
